  • Zoom
    Pre-Separation Air Filtration System
This time-saving technology boosts the efficiency of the engine’s filter system, doubling the time between air filter cleanings. Air drawn into the engine is first separated via centrifugal force, ejecting the heavier dirt particles before being routed to the air filter. This pre-separation means less dirt to be captured by the air filter, resulting in less frequent cleaning and maintenance.

    More Information

  • Zoom
    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Zoom
Toolless fuel and oil caps with retainers
Simply lift the lever and twist the caps to remove or tighten. There‘s no need to use a tool to tighten or loosen.
  • Zoom
    Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.
  • Zoom
    Anti-Vibration System
STIHL has developed a system for minimizing the vibration levels of handheld outdoor power equipment. The STIHL anti-vibration system helps reduce operator fatigue and provides a more comfortable working experience.

Important Information
WARNING! The occurrence called “kickback” can cause serious or fatal injury. Always read the instruction manual carefully before using your saw. STIHL uses a green and yellow color-coding system to help you select a powerhead, bar and chain combination that complies with the kickback requirements of ANSI Standard B175.1 (gasoline-powered saws) and §30 of UL 1662/ ANSI Standard B175.1 (electric chainsaws). Ask your STIHL dealer about safe operating procedures and the advantages of the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake, STIHL Quickstop® Plus (Q) additional chain braking feature, STIHL reduced kickback bars and STIHL low-kickback saw chains.

STIHL recommends the use of green reduced kickback bars and green low kickback chains on all STIHL chainsaws.
* The actual listed guide bar length can vary from the effective cutting length based on which powerhead it is installed on.

Are You Ready for a STIHL?

MS 362 is rated 4.7 out of 5 by 77.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Saw The MS362 is the first real saw I have owned. I cut and burn about 6 cords a year and have used the 362 now for 5 years. So 30 cords and never a miscue. Good mix of power and weight, light enough for limbing, heavy/powerful enough for felling and stumps.Starts easily even after sitting for months. Has a good amount of power and is very reliable. Sometimes with a new chain and very hard wood it bogs a bit as the teeth cut deep. Otherwise, it is fantastic. It is one of the best things I ever bought in terms of outstanding value. Worth every penny.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from MS 362 -3 year owner Saw is weak for the cc, the price, and the loud roar it makes. It does bog down in larger diameter wood. I put the longest bar recommended for the unit. I have a 20 in and a 22 inch as well. The longer bar doesn't allow oil to transfer to the end when oiler is cranked up and is weak when buried. There should also be double dogs/feller spikes on this saw for the size. The ones from the factory are tiny and are extremely undersized for the saw. This makes absolutely no sense. The dealer talked me into this saw for occasional milling on an Alaskan mill and that was a big mistake. It will not mill anything hard or wider then 10 inches. I'm disappointed because I'm stuck with a heavy weak loud fuel finicky saw.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great saw Great power and not too heavy for a full day of felling and cutting logs.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from MS 362C All it is advertised to be I heat my home with wood therefore I burn around 20 cords of wood a winter. I purchased a 390 used from a friend they purchased it new in 2006. The 390 has been maintained and is in good working condition. I depend on my chainsaws to do their job. I feared that if something would break on the 390 I'd really be in trouble therefore I purchased a new 362C. I'm writing this review in early Spring and have already cut about 10 cords with the 362 WOW unbelievable, lighter, faster, quieter, doesn't buck like the 390. My 390 is not ready for retirement but the advancements made in 12 years is noticeable. I've passed 30 years of age a long time ago anything I can do to save time, wear and tear on my body is worth it. I only gave a 4 star rating because of 1 gripe and that is the gas tank size. I haven't done a comparison between the tank size on the 362 vs 390 but it seems like I need to stop and fill up with gas more often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Saw I've Ever Owned This saw is an absolute beast. I use mine with a 20" bar and it cuts through everything like butter. It's not too heavy and is manageable for sawing for long periods of time. I never feel any vibrations when using it because it is so smooth. It starts up every time very easily. I haven't had one issue with the saw and have really enjoyed using it. Clean your saws after each use and they'll run forever.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Poor design on air filter/cleaner Very poor design on air filter suck in dust then burns up motor. Stihl rebuilt it but would not put on new carb with redesigned filter. Hard to get somebody to talk to or help with the problem in wisconsin

Rated 1 out of 5 by from This saw is a lemon I have been using my 362-C consistently for 6 months. I have put a fair amount of hours on my home saw and every time it gets hot, it fails. This is the first Stihl that has given me problems, I have used 044, 440, 029, models before and never had any issues. I have taken it to 3 people with no luck of a fix for the machine.
